Urban Interruption

Interruption was a temporary 5.5-foot typographic installation in Sheffield, forming a semi-circle that read: It’s OK to Feel Things.

Inserted into the flow of the city, the structure created a quiet arc of permission — a space people could step into rather than pass by. Surrounding it were trained “active listeners” in high-visibility vests, signalling that conversation was welcome. Passers-by were invited to write anonymous reflections on post-it notes and attach them to the letters, gradually layering the sculpture with collective voice.

The work functioned less as an object and more as a pause — interrupting habitual movement and demonstrating that public space can hold emotional honesty.
